Here are five food places in the area that have received rave reviews on Tripadvisor.

Antep Kitchen, Cowley Road

Turkish restaurant Antep Kitchen is a local favourite, and the owners say they are “passionate” about serving authentic flavours.

The owners, who grew up in Gaziantep, a major city in south-central Turkey, opened this family-run restaurant on Kauri Road in 2018.

A recent review said: “After reading the various reviews I went to this simple place and I can confirm it was a great experience.

“It was so good I went back in less than a week. The food was fresh and the fish was very good, not to mention everything was affordable.”

Za’atar Bake, Cowley Road

Za’atar Bake is an Arabic cafe and bakery on Cowley Road, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner

On their menu you can find dishes like manakeesh, maqloubah, Arabic quiche, fatayer, za’atar baked pizza, wraps and patty burgers.

A recent review said: “Comfortable atmosphere. Great selection of dishes, many things you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

“The food was very good and good value (by Oxford standards of course). I have no complaints about this place.”

Lula’s serves authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine and has opened in 2021 at The Community Works on Park End Street

The restaurant has proven popular with residents, earning rave reviews from independent dining guide Bitten Oxford.

A recent review said: “This place is fantastic. The food is absolutely delicious and plentiful, beautifully prepared and presented.

“Great value, satisfying small but comprehensive menu, great for meat lovers, vegans, and the gluten-free crowd. I’ll stop now. Go there.”

BBuona Pinsa, Gloucester Green

BBuona Pinsa Bar in Gloucester Green has been high on the list for years as diners love the Italian restaurant for its pizza and friendly atmosphere.

A recent review said: “This Pizza Bar is fantastic! In an era when restaurant service is questionable at best, Bbuona’s charming staff are bucking the trend. Friendly, genuine, a real pleasure to meet you, that’s it What happens when you arrive.

“Quick service and good food from the kitchen was a win. We ate in the main restaurant and we enjoyed the hustle and bustle of service.

“The pizza is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. When you finish your dinner with gusto, you get real light and made with love. We kept smiling and just sent out only when the food was that good to make a sound.”

Yeti Nepalese Restaurant is a family-run curry house offering Himalayan specialties and Indian staples.

A recent review said: “This is one of my favorite takeaways, but eating in is much better and there are usually spaces.

“Excellent selection of well prepared curries, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent naans.”
